Description

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!  MAKE SURE YOU PLAY THE UNDERTALE GAME FOR YOURSELF BEFORE READING ON!

( Man I love this game to death! It was only a matter of time until I made an OC for Undertale >u>  Though this one's a little different because Rhyder's story takes place before the monsters were sealed underground, while the war between humans and monsters is still going on.  Just thought it would be kind of fun to have a character placed during the time monsters still roamed free on the surface.  So without further ado, let's get onto the info! )

Name: Rhyder

Age: 23

Height: 5' 4"

Species:  Ragdoll/dummy

Backstory
Surprisingly, Rhyder isn't actually a monster at all.  She's a human.... or, at least she was once.  During the war, there was only one mission for a human.  Destroy monsters.  And as a warrior, Rhyder would do anything to protect her village.  "They had to destroy the monsters before they destroyed us."  At least, that's what she was told all her life.  But one day on a routine patrol, she came across a monster that would unexpectedly change her life forever.  A little ghost.  Something that at first glance didn't seem would be a problem.  But as she prepared to attack, the monster did something that she never expected..... nothing.  It didn't fight back.  Didn't beg for mercy.  It didn't seem bothered by her presence at all.  In fact upon noticing her, all the little ghost said was, "Oh.... am I in your way?  Sorry.......

A monster that wouldn't fight?  Ryder didn't know what to do.  She'd never really come across that before.  So in a moment of utter confusion, all she could do was ask the ghost's name.  In a nervous and awkward manner, the little ghost eventually replies with, "Napstablook."  ( I normally don't incorporate canon characters directly into my OCs backstories, but I love that little ghost too much and couldn't help myself  )  After that, the two were stuck together like glue, secretly of course, and Rhyder's outlook on monsters gradually began to change.  Maybe..... they were wrong about the monsters.  Or at the least, maybe not all monsters were bad.  But the captain of the guards was not appreciative of this new outlook.  At all.  He reminded her that she had made a promise to protect their village and needed to act as such.  So, reluctantly, she tried to push her new ideas of the monsters to the back of her mind.  But when a few days later she came across another monster, this one being only a kid and too young even to fight, she just couldn't bring herself to hurt it.  Unfortunately, unbeknownst to her the captain had followed her in order to make sure she was doing her job.  Seeing the mercy she was showing to the monster enraged the captain and he pulled out his sword, ready to deal with the creature himself.  He brought his sword down, ready to strike down the monster child.... but the blade instead pierced straight through Rhyder's chest as she jumped in the way to protect the little monster.  Initially shocked by this, the captain immediately removed the sword from her.  But as he continued to look down at her huddled body on the ground, he quietly glanced at his sword, now dripping with her blood...... casually wiped off of the blade and turned away, leaving her there to die as he replied, "If you've thrown in your lot with the monsters... then you can die with them."  Slowly slipping away, she barely even noticed when Napstablook stumbled upon her but then suddenly rushed off again.  Having lost too much blood, the world slowly grew dark around her before she inevitably slipped into unconsciousness.  However, it seemed like only a second went by before she suddenly opened her eyes again.  Well.... eye.  Apparently after having found her, Napstablook, not really sure of what to do, had gone off to find some help.  But he soon realized that even though human souls are extremely strong, in her condition it would be gone before he could find anyone who could help.  So instead, he found an old cloth dummy and carefully transferred her soul into that until they could come up with a better idea. (Because he can totes do that shhhhhh...)  At first she was put off by the idea she was now inside the body of a doll, but she was at least grateful that she wasn't dead.  Even so, she still desired to have her old body back and she came up with an idea on how they could do that.  The humans had enlisted the help of a group of magicians to aid them in the war and if she could just explain things to them then maybe she could persuade them to help her.  After all she was still a human, so they should be willing to help her... right?  But Rhyder barely managed to get even to the outer limits of the village before the soldiers literally ripped her to shreds.  Thankfully though, with her new body it would be easier to repair the damage done, but that didn't make it hurt any less.  And at the last second a group of monsters intervened and managed to get her out of there and bring her back to the kingdom of monsters, believing her to be just another monster who had fallen prey to yet another human attack.  Since then Rhyder has taken the stand to protect her new home and friends from the humans, doing so while keeping the act of mercy close to her, whether the humans deserve it or not.

Personality
As opposed to her old, harden warrior attitude Rhyder is now an incredibly cheerful and bubbly type of person.  Even when fighting she has a trickster and playful like spirit, as if it were nothing more than a game.  She hardly takes anything seriously anymore.  But if you were to even DARE try to hurt her friends or any other monster for that matter, well, that hammer isn't just for show.

Extra Info

- Napstablook is the only one who knows that Rhyder's really a human and they've decided to keep that secret amongst themselves.  Even at times Rhyder herself forgets about ever being human.

- The glowing "heart" is Rhyder's soul.  While in the body of a dummy she's almost completely invincible, being able to repair herself easily when needed with just a needle and thread.  However, if she were to get struck where her soul lies, she would die almost instantly.

- While a lot of physical attacks don't do much damage to her, punches and blows just being absorbed by her cotton and cloth body, magic attacks do a great deal of damage.

- Rhyder keeps rocks sewn inside her hands to deliver harder punches when fighting.

- Her left "eye" is actually just a hole in the cloth.

- She can see out of her button eye too.  She can even take it off, leave it somewhere and still be able to see what her button eye sees.

- Rhyder's "mouth" is a zipper and automatically zips open and shut when she talks.

- The scarf she wears was given to her by Napstablook and she ALWAYS wears.

- When making the dummy, Napstablook ran out of material for her "hair" and left arm so that's why the left side of her head isn't covered and why her left arm is just a string.

- Even though she has the body of a rag doll, she's actually a LOT stronger than she looks.  Obvious by the giant hammer that she likes to wield.  Even so, her strength does have limits as she could easily tear the seams in her body if she tried to lift more than she's capable of.  Which is why she wears lighter weight armor as well.  In fact she wouldn't wear armor at all when fighting if it weren't for the fact that she wants to protect against the possibility of someone striking her soul.

- With her left arm being just a string it almost has no limit as to how far she can stretch it out.  But sometimes if she lets out too much of the yarn string, she can easily get snagged on objects or even tangled up in her own arm.  Which she's done.  A lot.
